Everton youngster set for Championship loan

Everton academy left-back Antonee Robinson is set to move to Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan, as per a report by the Liverpool Echo.

The 20-year-old is highly thought of at Goodison Park and spent last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers. The Trotters were favourites to re-sign the US national but now it seems the Latics are set to secure his short-term services.

Robinson has featured frequently in the Toffee’s pre-season matches but the arrival of French international Lucas Digne from Barcelona has seen him moved down the pecking order for a spot in Marco Silva’s new side.

Wigan are keen to make a better shot of the Championship than they did two years ago and see Robinson as a fresh, youthful addition to Paul Cook’s squad.

The Latics have also shown interest in Matthew Pennington, the 23-year-old also looks set for a move to the DW Stadium.
