# Fans react as Silva faces serious threat to job following Liverpool defeat

Marco Silva’s job is under serious threat following Everton’s 5-2 loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The result was seen by many as being the final nail in the coffin for the Portuguese coach, who has seen his side suffer a torrid run of results in the the last few months.

[The Liverpool Echo report](https://liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marco-silva-everton-future-latest-17366348) that Farhad Moshiri had decided to take the night to decide Silva’s fate, with a conference call expected this morning to deliver the owner’s verdict.

For the time being though, Silva is preparing to take on Chelsea on Saturday, although the former Watford boss is aware that he may not get to take that game.

David Moyes remains the favourite to replace Silva, while Tim Cahill has now emerged as an option to join the club as Moyes’ assistant manager.

Reacting on Twitter, while many Everton supporters were against the club’s appointment of Moyes, a number of fans seemed resigned to it as they seek change.

### Read Everton Verdict

For me personally, I’m not at a point where I don’t care who comes into Goodison Park, so long as Marco Silva goes out.

While long-term we’d ideally like a young, hungry and talented manager, Everton just need someone to bring a fresh approach and hopefully drag the club out of the mud, and if Moyes is that man, then so be it.

Everton can deliberate on their long-term future next summer once the club’s Premier League status has been confirmed, but until then, survival has to be the priority.
