# Football Fans React as Jordan Pickford Keeps Clean Sheet on England Duty

Football fans have been quick to discuss Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as the Toffees first-choice shot-stopper kept a clean sheet in an impressive display against Iceland on international duty with the Three Lions.

Pickford held down the goalkeeping spot in the [4-0 thrashing](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1899382/pickford-banks-shutout-in-england-rout) of the Scandinavian side, taking his clean sheet tally to [13 in just 30 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-pickford/nationalmannschaft/spieler/130164/verein_id/3299) for the England national side.

Although Pickford conceded two goals against Belgium last Sunday in a defeat which saw England ruled out of the running for the Nations League finals, they closed out their campaign with a comfortable win over Iceland at Wembley.

Pickford has been the subject of intense scrutiny in recent weeks after a number of high-profile controversies, starting with Pickford’s [reckless foul on Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54489179) which resulted in a season-ending injury for the Dutchman.

He was also [dropped and subsequently restored](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jordan-pickford/leistungsdaten/spieler/130164) in Everton’s two most recent Premier League fixtures.

Gareth Southgate still retains a large degree of faith in Pickford, having even [called to check up on the ‘keeper](https://readeverton.com/2020/11/07/southgate-explains-pickford-england-call/) he has trusted since his [impressive World Cup performances](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44756366) in 2018.

Opta stats \[via [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54991911)\] bode well for Pickford when on international duty; he has yet to make an error leading to a goal in 30 England appearances, with a save percentage ratio of 73.79%, while conceding 27 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets.

Football fans were quick to comment on Pickford’s latest performance as the past remains fresh in the minds of some…
