# Fans react to Everton’s injury update of Walcott

Theo Walcott would certainly have hoped for a more fruitful appearance against Manchester City than he actually received in his brief cameo.

The former England international was subbed off against the defending champions early into the game after going down inside five minutes.

The winger was struck flush in the face by a Raheem Sterling cross, with the former Arsenal man needing to be stretchered off the pitch with a suspected concussion.

[Everton have now provided an update](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1366033/walcott-injury-update) on Walcott’s condition, claiming that the 30-year old is still being monitored.

Walcott was discharged from hospital on Saturday evening shortly after the City game finished, with Everton having since followed all of the necessary protocols associated with dealing with concussion.

The Toffees confirm that Walcott is on track to return to full training later this week.

Despite Walcott’s impact and influence in Marco Silva’s squad being extremely divisive among the Everton fan base, many fans have expressed their joy online that the player’s condition is positive.

### Read Everton Verdict

It goes without saying but it is better to read that many fans are offering Walcott their well-wishes over those who are making jokes at the expense of the winger’s health.

I think Walcott is so far from the level Everton require, and I’d be happy to never see him play for the club again, but I wouldn’t wish any ill-will on the forward, and I’m glad his recovery has gone well.

People mock the fact that it was a ball that knocked him down, but when you consider that Phillip Hughes (Australian cricketer) was hit in the same position on his head with a ball (albeit a much harder ball) and he died, there is always concern when regarding head trauma and it shouldn’t be taken for granted.
