# Football Fans React as Everton Outcast Cenk Tosun Seals Win for Turkey

Everton striker [Cenk Tosun](https://readeverton.com/2020/11/12/cenk-tosun-goal-assist-turkey-everton-revival/) stole the show again after another standout display for the Turkish national team, proving to be the match-winner in a 3-2 victory over Russia as he scored his [18th international goal](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1897832/captain-tosun-the-matchwinner-for-turkey).

Having already scored from the penalty spot in a 3-3 stalemate with Croatia, Tosun then captained his side in another outstanding team performance which saw him lead his side to victory.

In what was his [second goal](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1897832/captain-tosun-the-matchwinner-for-turkey) in as many international games, the 29-year-old scored from the penalty spot to make it 3-1, that moment ultimately proving decisive.

In securing all three points against Russia, Turkey can still be in with a chance of securing promotion from League B [if results elsewhere](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/1897832/captain-tosun-the-matchwinner-for-turkey) go their way in the final matchday in the competition.

Tosun joined the Toffees from Turkish giants Beskitas for a hefty [£27m fee](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/leistungsdaten/spieler/45671) but has only managed [10 goals and six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/leistungsdaten/spieler/45671) in 53 outings for the Merseyside club.

He [joined Crystal Palace on loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cenk-tosun/leistungsdaten/spieler/45671) last season but he sustained a nasty [cruciate ligament injury](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51743139) during training in a major setback to reviving his career.

Despite his impressive performances on international duty, many football fans were dismissive and unenthused by Tosun’s scoring form…
