# Ferguson backs Moise Kean to come good for Everton

Duncan Ferguson has backed Moise Kean to come good for Everton, despite his barren goal drought.

Since signing for the Toffees from Juventus for around £27million in the summer, Kean has so far failed to score in any of his appearances for the club in all competitions.

The 19-year old has mostly been used as a substitute, but he has also started the occasional game, failing to make an impact both from the off and from the bench.

The Italian’s situation appeared to get worse last week, after Ferguson brought the forward off with minutes to go against Manchester United, despite having only just brought him on 20 minutes beforehand.

Kean’s confidence appears shot to pieces, and with Everton position in the Premier League table still not comfortable, it had looked difficult to imagine when Kean would get his chance to break his long-standing duck.

However, the Everton caretaker boss has backed him to come good eventually, should he keep working hard. [As reported by Click Liverpool](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/everton-fc/36492-duncan-ferguson-backs-moise-kean-to-kick-on-for-everton-carlo-ancelotti/), Ferguson said:

> I’ve worked with Moise Kean for months now since he came to the club, behind the scenes. As a first team coach that’s what you do.
>
> I thought his performance was better against Leicester. He contributed and he can be happy with that. He’s got to work on a lot in his game.
>
> But he’s a young lad and he’ll come \[on\] again and we’re here to help him.
>
> Obviously coming to England it’s a big step up physically. He’s only 19 so he’ll fill out and he’ll improve as he goes along.

### Read Everton Verdict

I think it is inevitable that Moise Kean will eventually come good, the only problem so far has been that Everton couldn’t afford the patience.

With everything else going wrong and with the Blues constantly losing, it put added pressure on their big money forward to come up with the goods. If the club achieve a more stable position though, it would allow Kean to develop and be ready in his own time.

He looks sharper and sharper with every appearance, and he is just that goal away from potentially opening the flood gates. I agree with Ferguson in that it will come, let’s just hope that is sooner rather than much later than it already has been.
