# The Five Turning Points of the Season

The season has been one of ups and downs, and if anything, it’s been a ride.

From going three months with three wins to being unbeaten in 7 games, and being top of the form table. From Arouna Koné to Ademola Lookman, Tom Cleverley to Tom Davies, Phil Jagielka to Mason Holgate and Maarten Stekelenburg to Joel Robles. It’s a season of transition not just off the pitch, but most definitely on it as well. It’s been a season of experimentation, with Ronald Koeman tinkering and fine-tuning a system until he finally cracked and scrapped it all in favour of what seems like a perfect fit. Now it’s a well-set system that can be modified and altered to suit Koeman’s style.

Couple a developing system with a whole host of developing (And many developed) players. We had an ageing, slow squad as the season started, with players happy to drift by through a game. Koeman has injected fire and youth into the team, players like Holgate, Davies, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, (The resurgence of) Ross Barkley, Robles – and even Mori to an extent – have revitalised the team going into 2017 proper.

So, when did Koeman realise the squad was stale?

I’ve picked out 5 key moments in the season, ranking them, where I think Koeman has turned a corner for Everton.
