# Everton’s £22.5m star thanks fans support after ‘dream England call-up

This season has been full of ups and downs for the Everton faithful.

One of the big positives came from plenty of the club’s [summer signings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/transfers/verein/29/saison_id/2020) who have settled in incredibly well.

The likes of James Rodriguez, Allan, and Abdoulaye Doucoure have all made good impressions this campaign.

However, one player has made more than just an impression for Carlo Ancelotti and the Toffees fans.

23-year-old Ben Godfrey [received](https://twitter.com/Everton/status/1397526783721975813) his first-ever England call-up ahead of this years Euro tournament.

The defender has been mightily impressive for the Blues this season, playing across the [whole backline](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/287504/Show/Ben-Godfrey).

In a [recent interview](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2161075/godfrey-on-how-evertonians-played-role-in-dream-england-call-up) with the club, Godfrey thanked Evertonians for their support after the ‘dream’ England call-up…

> “I’ve seen the fans’ reaction to me getting into the England squad and it means a lot. They’ve been so supportive from the moment I joined, and now I've got an England call-up. It is a dream come true."[@BenG0dfrey](https://twitter.com/BenG0dfrey?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)??

It is a more than deserved accolade for the 23-year-old after his stellar debut season for the Toffees.

The club paid just under [£25million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-godfrey/transfers/spieler/343475/transfer_id/3087520) for his services last summer and he has more than repaid that.

Now with an England call-up under his belt, Godfrey is really starting to grow as a player and a defender.

It will be interesting to see whether Southgate keeps the Everton defender in his final 26-man squad.

Having played plenty of games this season as well as being a veteran in England’s youth setups, Godfrey could be a real asset.
