# Ibrahimovic appears set to sign for Milan over Everton

AC Milan are now in prime position to strike a deal to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to reports.

The Sweden international had been set to choose between Milan, Everton or retirement, according to various reports, and it appears as though the forward will return to the San Siro.

Ansa.it (via [Mail Online](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7823103/AC-Milan-optimistic-wrapping-Zlatan-Ibrahimovics-sensational-return-January.html)) report that the Rossoneri are confident of sealing a deal for their former player, who is a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy.

Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Everton’s supposed interest in the forward in his first press conference for the club, saying:

> He is a good friend of mine and fortunately I have trained a lot of fantastic players.
>
> I think he finished his period in the United States and really I don’t know what his idea is.
>
> I am going to call him, if he wants to come to Liverpool to enjoy, he can come. But not to play, not to play!

### Read Everton Verdict

Losing out on Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no big loss for Everton, in my opinion. I was firmly part of the camp that thought the Swede would have been an ideal short-term signing for the Blues, but it was only ever going to be a short-term fix to a long-term problem.

Many former Ancelotti players are likely to be tentatively linked with the club in the coming weeks, and many won’t end up moving to Goodison Park, that is just the nature of appointing a new manager who has a history of managing great players.

With Kalidou Koulibaly and Piotr Zielinski also currently linked with the club, Ibrahimovic won’t be the last name to come to nothing over the next few weeks.
