# Jardim dismisses Monaco exit amid Everton speculation

Leonardo Jardim has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a Monaco exit amid reported Everton interest.

The Portuguese coach was recently named as one of the many targets Everton were considering as they look for a successor to the recently sacked Marco Silva.

While there hasn’t been any talk of contact having been made between Everton and Monaco or Jardim himself, and there hasn’t been any indication as of yet that the club intend on making contact, his name has made it onto the club’s shortlist.

Duncan Ferguson is set to remain as caretaker boss for this Sunday’s game against Manchester United, and the Carabao Cup clash against Leicester next week.

Jardim though won’t be the one relieving Ferguson of his temporary duties, according to the man himself.

Addressing speculation over his future ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/manager-reponds-speculation-future-everton-links-wants-respect-current-club/)), Jardim reiterated his commitment to Monaco, saying:

> Honestly, I have a 23-year career as a deputy, a 4th division coach, a D3 coach, a D2 coach, etc.
>
> I only changed clubs once in the middle of the season. It’s not a very usual thing. I am in Monaco; I have a contract with the club. I usually respect (his contract).
>
> Of course, as Ancelotti said, the coach depends on the results, and we need to keep working and stay focused on the important things.

### Read Everton Verdict

While Jardim did specifically move to dismiss Everton rumours, he said enough to suggest that he has no intention of accepting an offer, should Everton direct one his way.

Much like Marcelo Gallardo, who also moved to dismiss speculation this week, his name was only really tentatively linked with no reports detailing a plan of action or discussion at Everton involving his name.

For the time being it seems as though Unai Emery, Carlo Ancelotti and David Moyes are the only serious candidates in the frame, but things change rapidly in football, so who knows who the club could end up with.
