# Joey Barton reveals future ambition to manage Everton

Joey Barton has revealed that he would like to be named Everton manager in the future.

The boyhood Evertonian, who is managing Fleetwood Town in League One, revealed his future ambition prior to facing Everton’s Under-21s in the Football League Trophy.

Marco Silva has come under plenty of pressure at Goodison Park, with many fans calling for owner Farhad Moshiri to sack the former Watford coach.

While it appears as though Silva has kept his job for the time being, Barton has revealed that he would be interested in the role down the line, presuming he can continue to develop as a coach.

> It’s a job that in the future, as an Evertonian, you would like to take.
>
> I look at some of the people who have had the job, and I think that if I keep progressing and moving forward, it’s somewhere you’d hold dear to your heart.
>
> Although I never played there, I have great memories of watching as a kid.

### Read Everton Verdict

Speaking in the same interview, Joey Barton claimed that Everton should always pursue a coach that knows the “certain way to present yourself” as Everton manager, using this as a stick to beat David Unsworth with in defending his previous comments about the Everton Under-23s boss.

For a man who has a court date set for next summer after allegedly assaulting a fellow Football League manager in the tunnel after a game, I would suggest that Barton stops throwing stones if he is to continue living in a glass house.

I’d be against Barton ever becoming Everton manager because of his attitude alone, and not his potential to become a great coach. The former Manchester City and Newcastle man is unreliable and temperamental, and that isn’t the kind of man that should be representing Everton.
