# Rumoured Josh King/Jonjoe Kenny makes total sense for Everton \[Opinion\]

Everton director of football Marcel Brands has the chance to secure a masterclass in good transfer business amid reports claiming that Bournemouth and the Toffees are interested in a swap deal involving [Joshua King](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/11/abdallah-sima-josh-king-compared-west-ham-rumours/) and [Jonjoe Kenny](https://readeverton.com/2020/04/02/kenny-makes-decision-on-where-he-will-be-playing-next-season/).

The Norwegian is wanted by a [host of clubs](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/13697469/joshua-king-everton-bournemouth-man-utd-transfer/), including the likes of West Ham, West Brom and Everton.

King is a proven top-flight marksman with [48 Premier League goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/profil/spieler/91059) to his name. His contract [expires in six months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joshua-king/profil/spieler/91059) and could duly be available for a bargain fee.

Meanwhile, Jonjoe Kenny is evidently out of favour in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans and it may well be an opportune moment for a fresh start for the 23-year-old, who has made just [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonjoe-kenny/profil/spieler/258883) this season.

According to The Sun \[via [Bournemouth Echo](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19000752.cherries-everton-reportedly-talking-swap-deal-involving-king/)\], the Cherries would be keen on a swap deal involving either Kenny or young centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.

King managed to score a brace against League One Wigan in the FA Cup over the weekend, prompting inevitable questions as to where the future of the [former Manchester United striker](https://www.manutd.com/en/news-and-features/football-news/2011/may/joshua-king-signs-new-deal.aspx) lies.

Cherries boss Jason Tindall [said of King](https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/19000752.cherries-everton-reportedly-talking-swap-deal-involving-king/) after the game: “The speculation has been there the last few days and \[King\] played today, he was eager to play, wanted to play and he’s played and scored two goals. It might’ve put another £5million on his price tag!”

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

However, Kenny’s situation is no joke for the Toffees; it presents a unique advantage which could give Marcel Brands the edge over rival clubs as Everton look to secure reliable back-up to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

By leveraging Kenny’s apparently unwanted status at Goodison Park, Brands could solve two headaches for the club: recruiting another striker and offloading deadwood in January. A swap deal of any sort seems a no-brainer for the Toffees chief.
