# Journalist claims Everton are ‘quite keen’ on January move for EPL outcast

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/10/28/virals-everton-have-made-an-approach-for-starlet-yuri-alberto/) have been linked with a move for Manchester United outcast [Donny van de Beek](https://readeverton.com/2021/10/22/virals-fabrizio-romano-confirms-huge-chances-for-everton-target-to-move/) since the summer transfer window.

Since then the 24-year-old former Ajax star has [continued to struggle](https://www.sofascore.com/player/donny-van-de-beek/361790) for opportunities at Old Trafford.

This has led to [ongoing speculation](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11671/12426160/man-utds-donny-van-de-beek-everton-remain-interested-in-midfielder-after-summer-inquiry) linking the Blues with a January move to sign the midfielder.

Appearing on Fabrizio Romano’s latest [Here We Go](https://www.twitch.tv/fabrizioromano) episode on Twitch, journalist Mark Ogden tipped the Toffees for the potential transfer depending on certain factors.

> I think when January comes Everton are quite keen to take Van de Beek. But it depends. If a new manager comes in, he might want to say to Van de Beek: ‘I’m going to give you a chance’. So everything depends on who the manager is.

So far this season Van De Beek has made just [three appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donny-van-de-beek/leistungsdaten/spieler/288255) across all competitions – amassing 141 minutes of action in total.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

Persistent injuries to both [Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-injury-update-gbamin-delph-18958958) mean signing a central midfielder will certainly be on Rafa Benitez’ mid-season agenda.

Add to that the [long-term layoff](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/abdoulaye-doucoure-everton-injury-update-21978809)of Abdoulaye Doucoure, the Toffees are lightweight in the department.

Valued at £22.5million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/donny-van-de-beek/marktwertverlauf/spieler/288255)) and highly regarded prior to his torrid time in Manchester, signing Van De Beek on loan would be a no-brainer for Benitez.
