# Journalist suggests that Everton could use Ancelotti to land Ibrahimovic

Carlo Ancelotti’s expected arrival at Everton could see another footballing great move to Merseyside, according to reports.

The Toffees had been linked with free agent Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this month following his departure from LA Galaxy, with the Swedish striker looking for a new club in Europe.

Zlatan has played for a plethora of elite clubs during his career, including but not limited to Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Milan.

While it had looked like the 38-year old was going to re-sign for Milan, it now appears as though that move is unlikely, with a move to Everton now being spoken about.

Ibrahimovic previously played under Ancelotti for PSG, where he scored 156 goals in 180 appearances for the club, and it has been speculated that he could be open to linking up with his former manager.

Speaking to Pianeta Milan ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/journalist-hints-striker-joining-ancelotti-everton-theyve-worked-together/)), Italian journalist Manuele Baiocchini speculated that with Ancelotti at Everton, the club could be in a much stronger stance if they try to land Zlatan, saying:

> For Milan, the offer was the best possible, €3m until June and €6m for next year.
>
> We have to understand what Ibrahimović wants to do because we knew that there was the possibility that he could go to Everton and now that Carlo Ancelotti, who wanted him at Napoli, went there, Everton could take him.
>
> But I’m only speculating, making everything easier for Ibra to the ‘Toffees ‘. Therefore always further away from Milan, but also from Naples.

It is still difficult to imagine Ibrahimovic playing for Everton, although it is equally difficult to imagine Ancelotti at Everton, and that looks to be going swimmingly so far if reports are to be believed.

At 38-years old, Zlatan would of course be nothing more than a stop-gap, who could also impart some wisdom to the younger strikers and sell some shirts for the club.

Everton are in need of a genuine goalscorer though, and although Zlatan’s peak years are long behind him, he has shown that he has the athleticism and fitness to continue performing at that level as a short-term solution if needed.
