# Juventus rule out exit for Everton target Rugani

Juventus director Fabio Paratici has confirmed that the club won’t sell Everton target Daniele Rugani this month, [as reported by Sky Italia](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2020/01/12/juventus-paratici-intervista).

[Calciotoday](https://www.calciotoday.it/2020/01/07/calciomercato-esclusivo-venerato-pogba-juventus-la-penso-cosi-vidal-inter-ecco-la-data/) first reported Everton’s interest in the Italian centre-back last week, with the Toffees keen to strengthen their defensive options this month.

Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane are currently the only senior options available to Carlo Ancelotti, and should injury strike any one of the trio, Everton could be in a spot of bother, hence the club’s interest in a new centre-back.

The Blues had also been interested in Rugani’s Juventus teammate Merih Demiral, [according to Telegraph Sport](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/01/05/everton-left-reeling-record-losses-gulf-merseyside-rivals-grows/), however [Mail Online recently revealed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7881575/Arsenal-Leicester-Manchester-City-target-Merih-Demiral-rest-season-Juventus.html) that the Turkey international suffered a season ending injury over the weekend, having damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

This has led Juventus to categorically rule out an exit for Rugani this month, with Demiral now joining Giorgio Chiellini on the sidelines in Turin. [Speaking to Sky Italia](https://sport.sky.it/calciomercato/2020/01/12/juventus-paratici-intervista), as [translated by the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-transfer-news-rumours-live-17568793), Paratici said:

> I can exclude right now that Daniele Rugani will leave. We need to see what happens with Giorgio Chiellini. People tend to forget (Rugani) has played quite a few games and won important trophies.
>
> My concern is that because Rugani is so quiet, well-mannered, doesn’t make a big fuss or is a fashionable player, he ends up being underestimated.

It is a huge shame to see Everton hit with a double blow in losing Demiral as a target due to injury, with the knock on impact also eliminated Rugani as an option as Juventus no longer have enough squad depth to allow him to leave.

Marcel Brands confirmed ([Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marcel-brands-explains-everton-transfer-17568853)) at Everton’s General Meeting on Tuesday night that the club would be looking to fill the centre-back spot this month having failed to re-sign Kurt Zouma in the summer, and it remains to be seen who Ancelotti will look to target.

We do know though that Brands has spoken out against mega money moves for players, claiming in the AGM that Everton don’t have ‘the numbers’ to sign players for north of £60million, meaning any reported interest in Kalidou Koulibaly is likely to either be misleading or no longer accurate.

Brands also confirmed ([via Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marcel-brands-explains-everton-transfer-17568853)) that he hopes to see the Toffees complete ‘two or three deals’ involving incomings before the window closes, with Everton needing midfield reinforcements and a right-sided wide player.
