# Kevin Campbell Unsure on Duncan Ferguson as Everton Boss

Former Everton and Arsenal marksman Kevin Campbell has delivered his verdict on the prospect of Duncan Ferguson taking the reins at Goodison Park.

Campbell insisted that Ferguson would be up to the mantle at Goodison Park, but questioned whether the Scottish former frontman would possess the persuasive power to bring top-quality recruits to the club.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, players who had previously served under him such as Allan and James Rodriguez had all made a switch from the likes of Napoli and Real Madrid to Merseyside.

Ferguson himself enjoyed a short spell as Everton manager between the reigns of Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti, earning a win against Chelsea and a handful of draws against Arsenal and Manchester United.

Speaking exclusively to [Goodison News,](https://www.goodisonnews.com/2021/06/10/kevin-campbell-reacts-as-ferguson-madrid-links-arise-shares-verdict-on-everton-job/) Campbell feels Ferguson boasts some managerial merits – but hinted that the club may be best-placed looking elsewhere:

> “Big Dunc has never let anyone down, especially when they really needed him.

> “The players responded, I think that the opportunity to be Everton manager is a bigger draw than obviously going to Real Madrid.

> “The only issue is, you’ve had Carlo Ancelotti here who is a world-class manager, he’s attracting players, no disrespect to Ferguson, but when you’re Ancelotti, that is why Allan, Rodriguez and Doucoure came to the club.

> “I wouldn’t argue if they gave it to him though, I think it actually serves them a real purpose because you know what you’re going to get.”

### Read Everton Verdict

Given his long and storied career in an Everton shirt, Ferguson would certainly appreciate the gravitas that comes with the job.

However, fans should be concerned by his paltry experience in a senior role. He has excelled as Ancelotti’s enthusiastic deputy, and his [reported rejection](https://punditarena.com/football/darraghmurphy/duncan-ferguson-real-madrid-everton/) of a job at Real Madrid was done fully with the intent to steer in the running for the Everton job.
