# Kieran Maguire Backs Everton to Keep Ticket Prices Low at New Stadium

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has hailed Everton’s credentials as the ‘people’s club’ as he made a key prediction on [Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/07/05/virals-everton-defender-yerry-mina-tops-duels-charts/) policy for when their new stadium is completed.

Following the securing of approval from the relevant authorities at both a local and national level, Everton have confirmed that work on the Bramley-Moore Dock site will[officially commence](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2182450/everton-confirms-new-stadium-start-date) on 26th July.

The landmark infrastructural development will see Everton expand their stadium capacity to 52,888, up from the Toffees’ current 39,572-seater home of Goodison Park.

That has prompted the finance guru to claim that Everton chiefs could make a popular decision over ticket pricing – despite the new development [reportedly costing the club over £500 million.](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-new-stadium-costs-revealed-19876219)

Writing for[Football Insider,](https://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-stadium-date-unveiled-as-kieran-maguire-reacts/) the lecturer claimed fan ticket prices will be kept down, especially if progress on the pitch mirrors off-pitch developments:

> “If they’ve been in the Champions League or Europa League or made progress domestically, it’s going to be a lot easier to make people open the wallets,” claimed Maguire.

> “Clubs like Bayern Munich make as much money from the 5,000 corporate seats as they do from the 55,000 seats for the everyday fans.

> “Everton call themselves the people’s club for a reason. It is very much based in the local community. I think they will be pricing their tickets for their loyal fans accordingly.

> “They won’t be looking to necessarily charge them extra money. Just look at what happened at West Ham.

> “The season tickets prices there were very reasonable because they were getting an extra 20,000 or 25,000 fans in when they moved to the London Stadium.“

Given the comparatively paltry difference between vast swathes of stadium seats and corporate seats in terms of revenue, Everton may sense an opportunity cost.

Keeping ticket prices high – yielding relatively little in terms of extra gains – has a clear trade-off in terms of the relationship with fans.

Supressing price rises despite the cost of the new stadium is sure to be well-received by fans, and could be the latest show of generosity from owner Farhad Moshiri.
