# Koeman discusses Mirallas exclusion

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has explained why he dropped Kevin Mirallas in today’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Belgian winger was totally left out of the squad that took to the field at Stamford Bridge today, leading to questions from the media after the game as to why he was excluded from Koeman’s plans.

Mirallas has gotten off to a slow start this season and the Dutch boss admitted that he was struggling with attitude issues, hence his exclusion.

Koeman, as quoted by the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ronald-koeman-confirms-kevin-mirallas-13537518), stated:

> He was out because he is struggling to deal with moments in the season and was disappointment. Everybody can be disappointed. But I expect from everybody to be part of the team.

> If somebody is showing that he is disappointed and his attitude is not the same then I have to make decision.

Koeman was also coy when asked about Mirallas’ future at Goodison Park. The former Olympiakos man signed a new deal only in May but as a result of these attitude problems, it appears as though there is some newfound uncertainty over his future on Merseyside.

Everton are already lacking attacking depth, and will surely be keen to retain all of their forward-thinking players in the final week of the window.
