# Koeman takes secret trip to Amsterdam to scout Ajax star

Ronald Koeman has taken a secret scouting mission to Ajax to watch attacking midfielder, Davy Klaassen.

According to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-boss-ronald-koeman-made-10368969), Koeman is ready to push for a £20 million move for the Dutch midfielder this summer.

Koeman reportedly kept his trip to Ajax under wraps and watched the player through a private executive box at the Amsterdam Arena during their 4-1 win over Lyon in the Europa League.

Klaassen is now believed to be the Toffee’s number one summer transfer target, which could put a move for Wayne Rooney in doubt.

Rooney had been linked with a return to his former side this summer, with his days at Manchester United looking limited.

The 24-year-old has caught the eye of many playing for Ajax this season, who themselves have earned plenty of plaudits with their youthful and attacking squad.

Klaassen himself has scored 20 times in all competitions, as well as registering ten assists.
