# Leeds could target Tosun for January loan deal

Leeds United could look to sign Cenk Tosun on loan in January, according to reports.

The Whites are attempting to sign Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster on loan as they look to increase their forward options for the second half of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season and now the Championship outfit are making sure they don’t fall to a similar fate this time round.

With Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah’s immediate future at Elland Road up in the air, another striker is absolutely essential in the club’s bid to win automatic promotion.

According to The Athletic ([via The 72](https://the72.co.uk/150978/leeds-united-could-swoop-for-everton-striker-if-loan-bid-for-liverpool-starlet-fails/)), Leeds could target Tosun if an offer for Brewster falls through, with the Turkish striker still likely to leave in January.

Tosun had been left out of the Everton squad entirely at the beginning of the season and after Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had both failed to impress, the Turkey internationally finally got his chance to impress.

Unfortunately for the 28-year old, he couldn’t take his chance from a starting position, and unless a new manager wants to keep him he could find his way out of Goodison Park once the window reopens.

Leeds could face a stumbling block in regards to Tosun’s wage demands though, making Brewster the preferred option for Elland Road chiefs.

### Read Everton Verdict

Given how dire Everton’s position is at the moment, the club should either keep the forward or sell him to free up wages and raise funds. Sending Tosun on loan does nothing for Everton, or him really for that matter.

Tosun wants to earn his Turkey spot ahead of next summer’s Euros, and a loan spell outside of the top flight won’t help his cause.

I personally think Tosun should be sold once the window opens. Keep Calvert-Lewin, keep Kean and bring in someone new, while letting Tosun find a new club.
