# Lees unavailable for Wednesday – how Everton must take advantage

Sheffield Wednesday captain Tom Lees is set to miss out on his side’s clash against Everton this evening, [according to the Evening Express](https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/sport/lees-still-sidelined-for-everton-clash/).

The Owls centre-back had been having a strong start to the season before a recent injury kept him out of the club’s previous three games.

Instead of risking him against the Toffees, Wednesday boss Garry Monk will leave the former Leeds United man out, which means Everton will need to take advantage.

As well as the 28-year old being absent, Monk is also expected to rotate much of his side, which Everton will need to exploit.

If Marco Silva does intend on treating the Carabao Cup as seriously as he claims, which I think he will do, then we should expect to see a strong line-up from the Blues at Hillsborough.

With Wednesday weaker at the back in Lees’ absence, it will be the perfect opportunity for Everton to get goals under their belt, preferably from any of the club’s three strikers who need to kickstart their respective seasons.

Moise Kean, Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Cenk Tosun could start against the Owls, and with just one goal between the three of them, Silva will be desperately hoping that whoever he chooses to play can find their shooting boots.

Everton face Manchester City at the weekend, and a comprehensive victory against Wednesday is absolutely necessary to rebuild confidence and momentum.
