# Man City are confident that Arteta won’t be tempted by Everton job

Manchester City are confident that Mikel Arteta will resist temptation amid reported Everton and Arsenal interest to remain at the Etihad, according to reports.

Both the Toffees and the Gunners could be in need of a new manager in the near-future, with both Marco Silva and Unai Emery having come under considerable pressure at their respective clubs in recent months.

Arteta played for both clubs during his career, and the former midfielder is held in high regard as a promising coach, leaving both club’s fans to dream of reuniting with the Spaniard in a managerial capacity.

[Pep Guardiola spoke](https://readeverton.com/2019/11/26/guardiola-hopes-arteta-remains-with-man-city-amid-everton-interest/) about his assistant’s future earlier this week, claiming that while he would like Arteta to remain with the Cityzens, that professional ambition could potentially take him away from the defending champions.

However, according to the Mirror ([via HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/11/27/do-report-shares-mikel-artetas-stance-amid-everton-and-arsenal-l/)), City are confident that Arteta will choose to remain in Manchester to continue honing his craft under Guardiola’s tutelage.

The 37-year old has been tipped by some to succeed Guardiola as City boss once the former Barcelona great departs, and City will want to keep Arteta around for as long as possible in case of that eventuality.[https://www.seedtag.com/](https://www.seedtag.com/)

### Read Everton Verdict

I don’t know if my heart could take Arteta being booed from all four corners of Goodison Park if things did go drastically wrong with him in charge, so I still err on the side of caution, or flat out refusal of concept, when it comes to the idea of Arteta replacing Silva.

I’d much rather Everton look for a more experienced manager who can drag the club out of the mud, while Arteta goes on to achieve great things elsewhere.

In a similar vein to the saying ‘never meet your heroes’, I think that it is better to imagine a former fan favourite leading Everton to glory and success than to see it attempted and fail in practice.
