# Marco Silva promises that Walcott has more to give

Marco Silva has claimed that Theo Walcott has plenty more quality performances to give for Everton.

The 30-year was a surprise inclusion against West Ham last weekend, starting wide right for the Toffees, and the former Arsenal man went on to receive a standing ovation for a fantastic display.

Over the past 12 months the former England international has been the ire of Everton fans everywhere, with inconsistent performances and minimal impact a trademark of the winger at Goodison Park.

However his West Ham performance was a call back to his glory days with the Gunners, and Silva has promised their is plenty more to come from the forward.

[As reported by Click Liverpool](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/everton-fc/35423-marco-silva-everton-can-expect-more-from-theo-walcott/), Silva is confident that Walcott is capable of maintaining a similarly high standard of performance on a more regular basis for the Toffees. The Everton boss said:

> The chances are there and the players have to be ready, not just to talk or not be happy. When you have the chance, you have to show your quality.
>
> Theo did that in his first \[proper\] start of the season and I was really pleased to see because he deserved it. He is a fantastic example in our dressing room.
>
> He started against City but unfortunately didn’t play more than two minutes. It’s possible that game was a very good chance for him because of the way we planned the game to explore the skills and qualities of Theo.
>
> But against West Ham he did that. I’m not saying if it was his best performance at Everton or not. I can compare this performance (last weekend) to how I saw Theo play last season against Burnley away because he did fantastic in that game as well.
>
> It’s something I mentioned to him this week and what I can tell you is to expect more games like that from him. He has the skills, profile and quality to do that \[regularly\].

### Read Everton Verdict

I’m cautious about having too much hope with Walcott, although I would love to see him continue to perform for the club.

During his initial six-month spell after signing from Arsenal, Walcott was quite a destructive talent for the club to possess, and he has since largely let the club down.

His performance against West Ham was brilliant, and reminiscent of the Theo Walcott of old. If he can maintain that level, then he’ll be an important player for the Toffees going forward.
