# Martial wanted Everton move

Manchester United wonderkid Anthony Martial was keen on a move to Everton not so long ago, [according to the Telegraph.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/11934892/Manchester-United-news-Anthony-Martial-wanted-to-join-Everton-on-loan-says-manager-Roberto-Martinez.html)

Roberto Martinez tried to loan Martial, who has made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford, in January 2014 but Monaco refused to let the highly regarded teenager leave.

In the end Everton brought in a different Monaco forward in the long, gangly form of Lacina Traore, but the Ivorian’s Goodison Park career never really got going due to injury.

Everton had scouted Martial for a while and the Frenchman was believed to be keen on a move to Merseyside, but his former club were unmoved and handed him a new contract.

Martial will line up against Everton on Saturday and he’ll be looking to add to his tally for the Red Devils.

The former Lyon hitman has plundered four goals since his £36million move to Old Trafford and Martinez will get a good look at what might’ve been as Everton host Manchester United on Saturday.

Imagine a strikeforce of Lukaku and Martial, my word.
