# Middlesbrough make bid for Funes Mori

Middlesbrough are reportedly bidding £5 million for Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori, according to the Daily Telegraph (via [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/06/21/report-middlesbrough-make-5m-bid-for-evertons-ramiro-funes-mori/))

Funes Mori will reportedly be one of the victims of the new regime at Goodison Park, with Marco Silva committing to a clear out of his new squad.

Tony Pulis is looking to improve his defence, with Bristol City’s Aden Flint also this week linked with a move to the North East and the Riverside Stadium.

This comes with rumours that Ben Gibson could be leaving Boro, with numerous Premier League clubs including Everton taking a look at the defender.

Funes Mori recovered from a long injury layoff earlier this year, but only made four appearances for Everton last season.

The Argentine defender joined Everton in 2015 from River Plate for a fee of £9.5 million. The defender suffered an injury in 2016 whilst on Argentina duty, and missed the majority of the last two seasons, making only four appearances for the Toffees last season.
