# Could Naismith be heading for the exit?

Steven Naismith is being linked with a move away from the club, with reportedly Norwich interested. The Echo suggests that the club are expecting bids for the Scotsman in the coming hours.

[Phil Kirkbride on the Echo liveblog](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-fc-news-transfer-rumours-9965296) explained that “we believe there could be some traction here but, as it stands, there is nothing official to report.”

The attacking midfielder has been used as a utility player all across the attack including up front in the latter stages of the game against Spurs.

The forward scored a header against Barnsley last Wednesday evening that created a platform for the comeback a game which the Blues eventually won 5-3. Naismith divides opinion among the fans, many praise his work rate and determination to chase the ball down, but at the same time he simply does not possess the technical ability to succeed as a traditional ‘no.10’.

If Naismith did leave, could that pave the way for a new signing that fits the no.10 criteria? Roberto Martinez has banged that same drum all summer and we expect that, as he will be targeting an attacking midfielder today, he can pull off a marquee deadline day signing.
