# Napoli midfielder Allan hopes that Everton will buy him this week

Napoli midfielder Allan is hoping that Everton will buy him before Friday’s transfer deadline, [according to Il Mattino](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/sscnapoli/allan_everton_offerta_napoli-5014354.html).

Everton are searching for a midfielder to sign before the transfer window shuts later this week, and the Brazilian has emerged as a possible target, with [Star Sport reporting](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/napoli-name-allan-asking-price-21349022) that it would cost Everton £42million to land their target.

However, a report from Il Mattino ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/carlo-ancelotti-asks-everton-sign-midfielder-month-club-want-least-e80m-sanction-sale/)) earlier this week claimed that it would take €80million (£67.6million) in order for the Partenopei to sanction a sale.

[Il Mattino’s latest report](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/sscnapoli/allan_everton_offerta_napoli-5014354.html) claims that Ancelotti personally contacted Allan earlier this month to sound out whether the 29-year old would consider joining Everton, and now the midfielder is hoping that Everton firm up their interest.

The Brazil international is said to consider his time at Napoli to be over, with him now wanting to reunite with his former Napoli boss at Goodison Park, with [Il Mattino](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/sscnapoli/allan_everton_offerta_napoli-5014354.html) claiming he ‘wouldn’t say no’ should the Toffees come in for him.

[The report](https://www.ilmattino.it/sport/sscnapoli/allan_everton_offerta_napoli-5014354.html) claims though that Everton have not yet made contact with Napoli, and should they do so, it is still extremely unlikely that a move could be pushed through or funded at this late stage.

### Read Everton Verdict

For a midfielder who is 29-years old, the transfer fees being bandied around are simply too high to warrant paying. From Napoli’s perspective they are just, as Allan is a top player and they’d want to be paid well for him, but from Everton’s perspective they’re just too high to justify.

As such, I think this story is a non-starter, whether Allan wants to reunite with Ancelotti or not. Allan has played 14 times for Napoli in Serie A this season, and five times in the Champions League, proving him to be a key player in Gennaro Gattuso’s set-up at the San Paolo ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan/profil/spieler/126422)). As such, even if he did want to leave, Everton’s chances at landing him seem impossible.

[Gianluca Di Marzio reported earlier this week](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/vecino-inter-calciomercato-news-28-gennaio-2020) that Everton’s attempts to sign Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino had broken down as the Toffees would’t match the Nerazzurri’s €20million asking fee, and if they wouldn’t do that for Vecino, why should we expect them to pay four times that amount for Allan? We shouldn’t, is the answer to that question.
