# Nigel Pearson confirms Ismaila Sarr will miss Everton clash

Watford manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that winger Ismaila Sarr will miss his side’s game against Everton on Saturday, [as reports Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/watford-boss-pearson-provides-sarr-injury-update-ahead-of/bic5qs92uxis1viouipquhleb).

The Senegal international joined the Hornets from Rennes in the summer, signing for a fee believed to be in the region of £30million, as claims the [Watford Observer](https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/17825048.watford-announced-signing-ismaila-sarr-rennes/).

The 21-year old has scored three times and assisted twice in 15 Premier League appearances for Watford this season ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322670/Show/Ismaila-Sarr)), and the Hertfordshire outfit’s attack will certainly have been blunted in his absence.

Sarr suffered a hamstring injury against Tottenham earlier this month, having missed the club’s last two games following that incident, and he won’t be available to make his return against the Toffees.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference today (via Goal), Pearson revealed his disappointment at not having Sarr back available just yet, saying:

> Sarr won’t be available this week.
>
> It’s disappointing to lose Ismaïla. He is making good progress, but he won’t be available for Saturday.

Watford’s recent results in the Premier League have shown them to be a tricky side, so Everton will relish Sarr’s absence as they seek to gain every advantage. The Hornets comfortably beat Bournemouth 3-0 away from home, drawing at Vicarage Road against Tottenham in the following game, before throwing a point away in injury time at Villa Park, with Aston Villa scoring extremely late to win 2-1.

Roberto Pereyra replaced Sarr in Watford’s line-up against Aston Villa, and the former Juventus man will likely retain his Premier League starting spot, although the Argentine hasn’t been as influential as Sarr has this season, scoring just twice from 18 Premier League appearances ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roberto-pereyra/profil/spieler/112302)).

Everton meanwhile have several players returning from injury this weekend, with Alex Iwobi, Gylfi Sigurdsson and former Hornet Richarlison all set to face Pearson’s side. Following back to back Premier League draws against West Ham and Newcastle, and with Watford missing their £30million man, this weekend’s game represents a strong chance for Everton to get back on track.
