# Onyekuru suffers long-term knee injury

Everton striker Henry Onyekuru has suffered a serious knee injury.

The Nigerian forward is currently on loan at RSC Anderlecht in Belgium as he looks to develop himself, but has been set back by a blow to his knee.

Anderlecht took on Eupen, Onyekuru’s old club, on Friday night and the young striker picked up a long-term injury. Although it only appeared to be a knock at first, the Belgian side’s manager has raised concerns that Onyekuru is looking at around six months on the sidelines.

As quoted by the [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42493766), Anderlecht manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck told the press:

> He could be out for as long as six months.

Onyekuru had been in decent form for Anderlecht despite failing to convince in recent outings, so this will undoubtedly come as a blow to him with the World Cup taking place in the summer.

Whether or not Onyekuru will return to Merseyside to recover from this injury remains to be seen.
