# Potential takeover at Everton?

Investors from Kansas are looking at the potential takeover of Everton, [according to reports.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/33998104)

There were rumblings of a potential takeover yesterday evening, and on Friday morning, BBc’s Richard Conway tweeted this:

> BBC understands Kansas City based investors exploring potential takeover of Everton FC. More to follow [@BBCSport](https://twitter.com/BBCSport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [@bbc5live](https://twitter.com/bbc5live?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) + [@philmcnulty](https://twitter.com/philmcnulty?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw).

Many Evertonians are sceptical of the story as it comes out around the time of the Club’s AGM meeting, but the chief football writer of the BBC, Phil McNulty, said the information did not come from Everton.

The US consortium, who have ties with MLS outfit Sporting Kansas City, are interested in a deal but it remains to be seen if they are prepared to meet the reported £225m asking price.

Everton have remained silent on the matter, but with Robb Heineman, CEO of Sporting Kansas City, believed to be attending tomorrow’s clash between the Blues and Manchester United at Goodison Park, something is going on in the blue half of Merseyside.

Mike Illig, another associate of Sporting Kansas City, has stirred the pot once more after claiming that he is an Everton fan.

In the words of Bill Kenwright, watch this space.
