# PSG may turn attention away from Gueye

Paris Saint-Germain may turn their interest towards other midfield targets this month, with their pursuit of Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye proving frustrating, according to reports.

Speculation over the past month has seen the Senegal international name checked as a key target for the French champions, who are looking to strengthen their options with Adrien Rabiot likely to depart.

While Everton have been adamant that Gana would not leave this month, reports had suggested that the club would sanction a deal if PSG could meet their €45million price tag, which the French side refused to do so.

Now however, [France Football](https://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-le-psg-bloque-par-watford/978576) are reporting that Everton will allow Gana to leave only if they can sign Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucouré as his replacement.

The report states that Watford will only accept €50million for Doucouré, and given Everton’s reluctance to spend big in this window, a deal is unlikely.

Subsequently, PSG are likely to move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl instead of the former Aston Villa man.
