# Rob Green lauds ‘amazing’ Anthony Gordon following England brace

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/11/11/ashley-williams-bewildered-by-everton-under-rafa-benitez/) winger Anthony Gordon capped off a remarkable week with a brace on England Under 21 duty.

Called up to the squad by former Toffee’s midfielder Lee Carsley for the first time, Gordon [grabbed the opportunity](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/nationalmannschaft/spieler/503733/verein_id/22907) with both hands.

The Young Lions swept aside the Czech Republic [3-1](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/england-u21-czech-repbulic-result-anthony-gordon-b965791.html) at Turf Moor and the 20-year-old was on fine form.

Speaking during commentary for [Sky Sports](https://twitter.com/England/status/1458882645660733440), former England goalkeeper Rob Green was full of praise for the starlet.

> It’s a dream start. It’s a brilliant start for England, and it’s an amazing start for one young man. England rampant in the first 10 minutes.

Carsley’s side will now [face Georgia on Tuesday afternoon](https://www.skysports.com/football/georgia-u21-vs-england-u21/443831) and Gordon will be hoping to feature prominently once again.

So far this season the fledgeling ace has made [nine appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/leistungsdaten/spieler/503733) across all competitions.

As ever recently it would seem one positive comes with a major caveat elsewhere as a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/2948996/2021/11/11/evertons-head-of-medical-services-leaves-after-benitez-led-review-of-injuries-to-key-players/) claiming Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to be out until December as he struggles for fitness.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

Capable of operating on both wings, Gordon has [emerged this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/503733) and can perhaps push for more of a prominent role for the remainder of the season.

Valued at £4.5million and under contract at Goodison Park until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/marktwertverlauf/spieler/503733)), Everton will be hopeful of seeing more performances such as thins from their academy prospect.

As for Calvert-Lewin, it would appear the Englishman simply can’t catch a break this term.
