# Santiago Arias Attracting Interest from Everton

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/03/04/everton-target-nikola-maksimovic-set-to-be-free-agent-in-summer/) remain keen on signing Atletico Madrid and [53-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/santiago-arias/profil/spieler/120443) Colombia international Santiago Arias, according to [Explica.](https://www.explica.co/arias-continues-to-recover-and-european-teams-are-already-knocking-on-his-door/)

The right-back is plying his trade on loan in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkeusen but has just [one appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/santiago-arias/profil/spieler/120443)for the German side.

His loan spell turned sour – through no fault of his own or the club’s – after the 29-year-old [suffered a broken leg](https://tbrfootball.com/report-everton-still-keen-on-atletico-madrid-player-santiago-arias/)at the start of the campaign.

In a consolation for Everton, Arias appears likely to be fit for pre-season ahead of the 2021/22 campaign and could again be made available by Atletico.

AS Roma and PSG are [also said](https://www.explica.co/arias-continues-to-recover-and-european-teams-are-already-knocking-on-his-door/)to be tracking the full-back in an indication of the quality he is viewed as possessing.

The report does not suggest any formal or informal talks and enquiries have taken place but it does indicate that Ancelotti would be keen to bring Arias to Everton.

Noted by [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/88112/Show/Santiago-Arias) as an aerial and incisive full-back, Arias could inject speed and urgency down the right flank.

Moreover, camaraderie enjoyed for Colombia with Toffees James Rodriguez and Yerry Mina could offer an incentive to move to Merseyside.

The test of the Premier League and working with [serial winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/carlo-ancelotti/profil/trainer/523)Carlo Ancelotti could create the perfect conditions for a challenging yet attractive move for Arias as he enters the prime years of his career.

With Seamus Coleman approaching his mid-thirties, Arias could plug the development gap between Coleman and younger prospects such as Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey.
