# Schalke lead race for Kenny loan – But would it be a good move?

Schalke are leading the chase to sign defender Jonjoe Kenny on loan this summer, [according to Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11732251/schalke-lead-the-way-ahead-of-burnley-and-crystal-palace-for-evertons-jonjoe-kenny), but would it be a good move for the full-back?

The Bundesliga outfit are ahead of Premier League duo Burnley and Crystal Palace in their pursuit of the right-back, who Everton are believed to be ready to let go on a short-term deal this summer.

I wouldn’t be against Kenny leaving for Gelsenkirchen on a loan deal this summer, so long as the club can provide some form of assurance over the 22-year old’s playing time.

While Kenny still has a place in Everton’s current squad as he is, at his age he needs to be playing regularly to continue developing if he wants to be the Toffees’ first-choice at right-back in the future.

Burnley would be another positive loan destination, with Sean Dyche sure to give him game time and get him playing in the right way. Crystal Palace too would be positive, but only if the club sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, else he won’t be able to play often enough.

Kenny only made nine Premier League appearances last season, after Seamus Coleman found a second wind and earned his spot back.
