# Schneiderlin sent off against Palace – Fan Reactions

Morgan Schneiderlin claimed Everton’s first red card of the season in the club’s opening Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman picked up his second yellow card of the game with just 15 minutes remaining at Selhurst Park and was promptly given his marching orders, leaving the Toffees short on midfielders ahead of hosting Watford at Goodison Park next week.

Andre Gomes departed in the first-half after picking up an injury while Fabian Delph missed the game entirely after getting injured during pre-season. Finishing the game with Tom Davies and debutant JP Gbamin in midfield, the duo are expected to start for the club against the Hornets.

Look, this wasn’t what we were hoping for. On paper, Everton were far superior to Crystal Palace, and the tempo was just never there. Once Gomes came off we lost all sense of a creative spark, and at that point we started to back-track.

Palace had far too much of the ball, and Schneiderlin’s suspension just compounds an extremely disappointing afternoon.

On the topic of the red card, Everton fans online reacted in a variety of different ways to the news of his ejection from the game.

Needless to say, not many of the responses showed the Frenchman much sympathy.
