# Seven defenders Everton could target as a replacement for Zouma

Everton are said to be in the market for a central defender this summer, with the Toffees looking to strengthen ahead of the 2019/20 season.

With Phil Jagielka’s 12-year tenure at the club coming to an end this summer, and Ashley Williams released by the club, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina are the only two recognised centre-backs at the club.

Returning loanee Mason Holgate also offers cover given his ability as a right-back or a centre-back, but the Toffees would require at least one more option heading into the 2019/20 campaign.

Kurt Zouma is said to be Everton’s main target following his successful loan spell with the club last season, though Chelsea’s uncertainty around their next permanent manager and the two-window transfer ban could scupper a move for the Frenchman.

With that in mind, we’ve identified seven potential alternatives Everton could look to sign should their move for Zouma fail to materialise.
