# Sigurdsson backs Everton to turn their early season form around

Summer signing Gylfi Sigurdsson remains adamant that Everton are good enough to turn their form around.

Speaking to the [club’s official website](https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2017/09/18/sigurdsson-we-will-turn-this-around) after the 4-0 away defeat to Manchester United, the club’s record signing says the squad have to remain positive.

> Yes, it is hard to say that after a 4-0 loss but we will stay together, stay positive and keep working. A lot of us have been in this position before where things are not going your way. It does not look too good at the moment but I know we are more than good enough to turn this around.

Goals from Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, former Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial compounded what was a miserable afternoon for Everton.

Sunday’s result followed a midweek defeat to Serie A side Atalanta in the Europa League, leaving Everton with no wins in six games in all competitions.

The club’s last, and only Premier League win of the season came back on the opening day against Stoke City.

After a busy summer of transfers at Goodison Park, Ronald Koeman has been unable to find the right solution for the new squad.

The club are also struggling to replicate Lukaku’s goals return after not being able to sign a suitable replacement for the player over the summer.
