# Silva admits it is too early for Gbamin return timeline – a disappointment for Everton

Marco Silva has revealed that while it is too early to provide a timeline for JP Gbamin’s injury recovery, Jonas Lossl could be back in contention soon.

Gbamin suffered a thigh injury in training after making his second appearance and full debut for Everton against Watford, in the club’s second Premier League fixture of the season.

The Ivorian’s injury was a disappointing blow for both the player and Silva, with the 23-year old seen as the long-term successor to Idrissa Gueye as the Toffees’ midfield anchor.

The initial prognosis of the injury suggested up to eight weeks of inaction for the former Mainz man, but Silva claims it is still too early to accurately predict how long he’ll be out for.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth, Silva said ([via Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/marco-silva-offers-injury-latest-16914639)) of Gbamin:

> It’s too early to say when Gbamin will be available.

> He’s on his way to recovery and what we’ll do as a club and our medical staff will try to get him ready as fast as we can but the most important thing for me is when he can be ready to train hard again and get his place in the team.

SIlva did however claim that Lossl’s recovery from his own injury lay-off would be much shorter, with the former Watford boss hopeful that he will ready in the “next few days”. Silva continued:

> Lossl is coming back step by step, he’s not ready yet but in the next few days he will be.

Of course it can only be a positive that so few of Everton’s squad are out injured. With just Lossl and Gbamin on the sidelines, Everton have a vast advantage over Bournemouth, who are missing a plethora of first team players.

Now it comes down to whether the Toffees can make it count. Their record at Dean Court hasn’t been great over the past few seasons, so hopefully Silva can find a way that’ll see the club continue their early season momentum by putting the Cherries to the sword.
