# Silva says Everton need to keep working on attacking set pieces

Marco Silva has demanded that his Everton squad continue to improve their attacking set pieces, which he confirms they do work on in training.

The Blues have scored just three times as a result of a free-kick or corner in the league this season, the last of which was a sensational strike from Lucas Digne deep into stoppage time against Watford.

Despite dedicating time in practice sessions to set-pieces, especially the day before a game, Silva says the club’s goal return as a result of set-pieces isn’t good enough.

Talking to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/evertons-goals-return-set-pieces-15586541), Silva said:

> To be honest, it is something we have to improve. My players, they know, I am demanding from them something different.

> We have good kickers and good players attacking there but we have to show more desire in that moment, we have to work, more, more and more if you can.

> The time for that is not big but, I can tell you, in every week we have enough time to work on them.

> We are one of the teams who normally wins the first touch of the ball. That means the ball from the kicker is good, the attacking of the ball is good but the ball isn’t going in the right direction.

> We have to improve. If we didn’t have good kickers, then ok. If we didn’t have good players to attack the ball….but we have. We have all the conditions to do better in my opinion.

> The players know my feedback.

Silva also made it clear that Everton do in fact practice their set-piece deliveries, and the Portuguese boss praised the quality Everton have in that department. He continued:

> It is part of our week. It is something you work more on the last day as that is the day for strategy ahead of the match.

> We have enough time to work on that and we have the conditions to be better.

> We have Lucas, Leighton, Gylfi, Lookman and players with quality. After that, we have the players to attack the ball in the box.

> We have to show big, big desire in that moment.
