The striker had already missed several chances at the MKM Stadium before scoring in the second half and admitted afterwards that he felt he should have had more. His six goals in eight appearances represent an encouraging start to the campaign after David Moyes continued with Barry as his main centre-forward.

Dewsbury-Hall has also spoken about the demands he places on his teammate. The midfielder, who scored Everton’s first goal at Hull before setting up Barry, described their relationship as “love-hate”. He said Barry had returned for the new season “really hungry” and described him as one of the hardest-working players he has played alongside.

Barry received a seven in [our Everton player ratings](https://readeverton.com/everton-player-ratings-hull-dewsbury-hall-barry/?utm_source=chatgpt.com), with Dewsbury-Hall taking the highest mark.
