# Today’s Everton news round-up & talking points — Friday 24th July

**A busy-ish day on ReadEverton but another passes with no new signings to report. Oh well. Patience is key, apparently.**

Villa’s interest in James Garner turned out to be more complicated than first reported. [Pete O’Rourke’s claim of a renewed approach](https://readeverton.com/aston-villa-james-garner-transfer/) was directly contradicted hours later, with [TEAMtalk’s Harry Watkinson reporting Everton have received no approach at all](https://readeverton.com/everton-james-garner-no-approach-denial/) — a reminder that even well-sourced reports can move fast in either direction.

Elsewhere, the right-back saga keeps growing. [Everton have entered firm discussions for Jonathan Rowe](https://readeverton.com/everton-jonathan-rowe-transfer-talks-bologna/), with a £42m price tag now attached, while [Newcastle have joined Everton in pursuit of Norwich’s Kellen Fisher](https://readeverton.com/everton-newcastle-kellen-fisher-norwich-transfer/) — though Norwich are currently refusing to sell.

Off the pitch, [Everton’s matchday ticket freeze for 2026/27](https://readeverton.com/everton-matchday-tickets-frozen-season-ticket-backlash/) has reopened fan frustration over April’s season ticket rise, with supporters drawing a direct line between pricing decisions and the pace of summer transfer business.

The [full transfer tracker](https://readeverton.com/everton-2026-summer-transfer-tracker-every-deal-live/) has today’s complete picture, including the ongoing El Ouahdi/Roma complication and the Vlahovic approach.

All in all, it remains a frustrating time for Evertonians with little but rumours and ticket price disparity to get excited about. Maybe tomorrow’s [second friendly at Bolton](https://www.bwfc.co.uk/fixture/view/16526) will give us something to get our teeth into. Or maybe not.
