# Toffees linked with Bundesliga Defender

Denmark international Jannick Vestergaard is catching the eye of Roberto Martinez, the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-transfer-rumours-blues-move-10383581) have reported, as well as German publications Kicker and BILD.

The Spaniard has previously stated that he is keen on securing the 23-year-old who currently plays for Bundesliga side, Werder Bremen.

With Everton captain Phil Jagielka out for the foreseeable future, the Dane could be a good addition to the squad.

The Werder defender stands at 6 ft 6 inches, this season he has featured in 10 of Bremen’s 11 Bundesliga games for Viktor Skrypnyk’s side.

It hasn’t been a good season for Die Werderaner, in their opening 11 games they’ve won just three games and have lost seven, picking up a total 10 points. They sit in 16th place in the Bundesliga, just four points off the foot of the table. The next seven games are make or break for Werder Bremen before the winter break, including crucial games against Augsburg, Wolfsburg and FC Köln.

Vestergaard arrived at the Weserstadion in January of this year, after spending four years in the blue and white of TSG Hoffenheim and is currently valued at €4.5 million.
