# Tosun confirms he spoke to Besiktas – should Silva use him this season?

Cenk Tosun has revealed that he did not have a conversation with Besiktas about moving back to Turkey, although they did contact him.

The Turkey international also reaffirmed his commitment to Everton, claiming he wants to stay and fight for his place.

There has been much speculation about Tosun’s future over the course of the summer, with a number of clubs Turkey and across the continent said to be keen on signing the 28-year old.

However Everton aren’t keen to sell, and Tosun isn’t keen to leave either, despite having fallen behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the pecking order.

> I passed it onto (Besiktas’s) authorities. They understood me.

### Read Everton Verdict

I’ve said it time and time again but I greatly respect Tosun’s desire to fight for his place on Merseyside, no matter how stacked against him the cards appear to me. Many others were cut loose and bail, and unless you choose to go down the cynical route, you’ve got to respect Tosun’s resolve.

I really hope he gets his opportunity to shine this season and when he does that he takes advantage of it. It would be great to see him succeed at Goodison Park, even if he is to embrace his role as a rotation player.
