# Tosun rejected Galatasaray to remain with Everton – Fan Reactions

Cenk Tosun’s Everton future was subject of much conjecture throughout the transfer window. Is he staying or going? If he goes, where will it be, and what type of deal will Everton do?

Ultimately, nothing happened, and Cenk remains an Everton player until January at least, with the European transfer window closing earlier this week having effectively ruled out a Turkey return for the time being.

Brought to Goodison Park during Sam Allardyce’s short but not-so-sweet reign as manager, Tosun has fallen a little by the wayside under Marco Silva. His lack of goalscoring threat early last season saw him dropped from the starting line-up, and he has never once recovered that position, even slipping further away from it following the signing of Moise Kean this summer.

However the Turkey international has remained positive by all accounts, and has acted as the utmost professional, working hard to provide the team with an alternative option should they require it.

They required it against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup, and Tosun’s short but impressive cameo from the bench resulted in him assisting Alex Iwobi to get Everton back in front, which subsequently bought him more time in the eyes of certain fans.

Fresh reports claim that Tosun declined to join Galatasaray before the European window closed, despite Silva having given the move the go-ahead, and several Everton fans have taken to Twitter to discuss this rejection and what it really means for the forward.

Others though were more cynical about his decision to stay, perceiving an ulterior motive behind his supposed desire to compete for his place.

### Read Everton Verdict

I admire Tosun’s attitude and his professionalism in that he hasn’t taken to speaking to the media every other week, but ultimately my opinion lies with what is in Everton’s best interests. Currently, as one fan mentioned above, that is in supplying for strength in depth to support the young strikers at the club.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Oumar Niasse, the club would probably be fine, but I feel more comfortable knowing he have an additional forward among that group, and one whose style is wholly unique to the rest as well.

Hopefully he’ll take his chances well this season. I’d be lying if I said I could envisage him getting back into the first-team, but I certainly wouldn’t have a problem with it if he can get back to performing relatively consistently.
