# Tosun wanted in Besiktas loan – should Everton sanction a short-term move?

Yesterday we reported on the news that Qatari side Al Gharafa were interested in signing Cenk Tosun this month, but the interest in the Turkey international doesn’t stop there.

The 28-year old has struggled for game time this season so far and is seen by many as the ideal candidate to bring in given his lack of minutes on Merseyside, making it more likely that Everton will let him leave for the right offer.

According to Fotomac ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/disastrous-start-season-club-looking-open-talks-sign-everton-player/)), Tosun’s former club Besiktas are already eyeing up making a move come the January transfer window.

The Turkish Super Lig side have had a poor start to the new campaign, and with first choice forward Burak Yilmaz injured, the club have suffered through a lack of forward options.

According to Fotomac, Besiktas are prepared to make an approach to sign Tosun in January. The report claims that they will make an offer to take the forward on an 18-month loan deal, and negotiations will begin shortly.

Is this an idea Everton should be considering?

### Read Everton Verdict

Personally, I don’t see any reason why Everton should agree to a deal like this. I think a loan deal is pointless, but at the very least I’d expect a six-month loan at best in January, not an 18-month move.

If Tosun still isn’t playing much by next season’s beginning, you imagine the club will be looking to sell the forward and move him on. If he is on an extended loan at that point, it doesn’t really make much sense from Everton’s perspective.

I maintain that Tosun is an option in the squad, and Everton should hold on to him for variation purposes, but if he does move away from Goodison then an 18-month loan should not be the way in which he does so.
