# Tottenham have ‘serious’ interest in former Everton target Ziyech

Tottenham have ‘serious’ interest in Ajax star and former Everton target Hakim Ziyech, according to reports.

The Morocco international has earned plenty of plaudits during his time with the Amsterdam club, and many expected him to leave for greener pastures following last summer.

However the attacking midfielder was one of the few Ajax stars to remain at the Johan Cruyff Arena in the summer, after Matthijs De Ligt signed for Juventus and Frenkie De Jong signed for Barcelona.

[As reported last month](https://readeverton.com/2019/10/23/everton-made-summer-offer-to-ajax-star-ziyech/), Everton made an offer for Ziyech in the summer, however the 26-year old rejected the chance to move to Goodison Park.

With Ziyech having performed well again this season, scoring six and assisting 15 goals in 20 games, he has naturally drawn plenty of suitors ahead of the January window.

Calciomercato ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-serious-signing-spurs-interest-others/)) claim that Roma, Napoli and AC Milan are interested in the forward, while Tottenham are more ‘serious’ than the others.

It isn’t mentioned whether Everton are interested or not, but with the club struggling for a creative edge in midfield this season, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Marcel Brands decided to pursue the Eredivisie star again.

### Read Everton Verdict

I think that Everton face a near impossible task in tempting Ziyech to come to Goodison Park, and if they couldn’t do so in the summer, then the likelihood of them succeeding in January is a lot lower.

Edwin van der Sar has admitted that Ajax will be soon be selling some of their top talent again, which means Ziyech could be on the move, but unless Everton instead eye someone different like David Neres, I can’t see the Toffees profiting from the Dutch club’s fire sale.
