# Turkey boss Gunes wants more minutes for Tosun – why it made come for him soon

Turkey manager Senol Gunes has spoken out about Cenk Tosun’s lack of first-team football at Everton, claiming it isn’t a “cool situation” for the national team.

The 28-year old forward has made just one Premier League appearance for the Toffees this season, featuring as a second half substitute against Sheffield United.

Despite Moise Kean having failed to register so far this season, and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin playing inconsistently, Tosun has been given a chance to impress from the off, despite some fans expecting Marco Silva to give him an opportunity.

Reports have also suggested that director of football Marcel Brands has identified the forward as a player who can be sold to raise funds in the January transfer window.

As reported by Milliyet ([via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/isnt-cool-situation-us-manager-concerned-everton-player/)), Gunes had this to say about Tosun’s situation ahead of Turkey’s upcoming game against Albania on Friday.

> Cenk isn’t ready. He is on the bench at Everton for quite a while.
>
> This isn’t a cool situation for us. We want him to play. But unfortunately, that’s not been the case for him at the moment.
>
> Hopefully, he will solve his situation soon.

Tosun himself will want to rectify this situation sooner rather than later, with his limited game time forcing him out of Gunes’ favour, despite the fact that he scored a brace during the last international break.

This makes total sense from Turkey’s point of view. Tosun has been a major player for them in the past, and the fact that he is getting little to no game time between international breaks isn’t good for them.

That situation won’t last long though, because the lack of game time he has received only shows that it is inevitable that he will leave in January, unless a new manager comes in and give him another chance.
