# Virals: AS Roma willing to ‘consider formulas’ for Everton target

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/10/15/pundit-tips-everton-move-for-sean-longstaff-to-get-done-in-january/) may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of AS Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar.

The Serie A side are reportedly willing to ‘consider formulas’ in order to get the 23-year-old [regular playing time](https://www.sofascore.com/player/gonzalo-villar/914765).

Having previously [demanded a permanent transfer](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/everton-keen-transfer-roma-midfielder-gonzalo-villar-mourinho-axe) for the Spaniard, Jose Mourinho’s may now be open to the idea of a loan departure.

That’s according to a report from [Tuttomercatoweb](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/la-strategia-di-gennaio-della-roma-tutto-su-zakaria-reynolds-in-prestito-dentro-un-terzino-1596151), as cited by [Sean Lunt](https://twitter.com/Sean_Lunt) on Twitter.

The report claims that Roma need to clear players off their books in order to sign their own targets. Meaning the [once-capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-villar/nationalmannschaft/spieler/398163/verein_id/3375) Villar could be among the fall guys.

Yet to feature in the league, so far this season the former Valencia youngster has only seen [82 minutes of action](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-villar/leistungsdaten/spieler/398163) across three cup appearances.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

One of the key players last term whilst amassing [33 league outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-villar/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/398163), Villar is clearly out of favour under Mourinho.

Toffees boss Rafa Benitez would appear to be set on strengthening the midfield department, perhaps in the wake of [recent injuries](https://www.evertonfc.com/teams/injuries-and-suspensions) to Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Valued at £12.60million and under contract in Italy until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gonzalo-villar/marktwertverlauf/spieler/398163)), signing Benitez’ compatriot on loan in January would appear to be a no-brainer.
