# Virals: Everton ‘can sign’ FC Porto winger Luis Diaz for £42.5m

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/10/07/pundit-tips-everton-to-land-donny-van-de-beek-in-january/) could reportedly start negotiating a deal for FC Porto winger [Luis Diaz](https://readeverton.com/2021/08/31/everton-luiz-dias-potential-deal/) at around the £42.5million mark.

The Toffees were [linked](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/12392083/everton-in-talks-to-sign-luis-diaz-with-james-rodriguez-loan-move-to-porto-a-possibility) with the mercurial Columbian over the summer but a deal failed to materialise.

Those links haven’t gone away however and fresh reports continue to emerge as Diaz enjoys a [bright start](https://www.sofascore.com/player/luis-diaz/883537) to the 2021/22 season.

The latest report from Portuguese newspaper [Correio da Manhã](https://cmjornal.pt/), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1445740528029503505) on Twitter, has claimed that Porto are now willing to drop their demands for the 24-year-old.

Initially, it appeared as though the Dragons were holding out for the [26-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/480692/verein_id/3816) star’s €80million (£68million) release clause with ‘many’ clubs believed to be interested.

This season, the forward described as [‘excellent’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9775063/Copa-America-Luis-Diaz-nets-stunner-hand-Colombia-victory-place-play-against-Peru.html) by Juan Cuadrado, has [scored six and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luis-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/480692) in eight Primeira Liga appearances.
