# Virals: Everton ‘join the race’ to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij

[Everton](https://readeverton.com/2021/11/19/virals-everton-have-tested-the-waters-for-ivan-perisic-signing/) have reportedly ‘joined the race’ to sign Inter Milan central defender Stefan de Vrij.

The 29-year-old has been [indexed to numerous clubs](https://sempreinter.com/2021/11/18/inter-likely-to-renew-with-milan-skriniar-but-could-sell-stefan-de-vrij-italian-media-report/) as the ace’s agents attempt to find a new home for his client.

Having recently been [offered](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10220227/Tottenham-Newcastle-given-hope-bid-sign-Inter-Milan-star-Stefan-Vrij.html) to newly mega-rich Newcastle United, the Toffees are believed to have shown their interest.

That’s according to a report from [90Min](https://www.90min.com/posts/newcastle-offered-inter-stefan-de-vrij-marcelo-brozovic), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers) on Twitter.

The report claims that the [54-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stefan-de-vrij/nationalmannschaft/spieler/111196/verein_id/3379) Holland international has also attracted the attention of Tottenham.

So far this season De Vrij, who was described as a [‘top defender’](https://cceit.com/praise-for-top-defender-de-vrij-i-find-him-more-stable-than-de-ligt/) by Kees Kwakman, has [scored once in 15 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stefan-de-vrij/leistungsdaten/spieler/111196) in all competitions for *I Nerazzurri*.

### READ EVERTON VERDICT

Valued at £45million and under contract in Milan until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stefan-de-vrij/marktwertverlauf/spieler/111196)), signing the experienced Dutchman would likely remain an expensive venture.

A vastly experienced operator, De Vrij has amassed [413 career club outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/stefan-de-vrij/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/111196) across spells with Feyenoord, Lazio and Inter.

At present Rafa Benitez has Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate at his disposal – leaving plenty of space for a defender of the [quality](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/82399/Show/Stefan-de-Vrij) of the Dutch ace.
